Northwest Mechanical Helps Trinity Deliver More Babies
Project Overview:
All the mommies and daddies welcoming their precious babies into the world at Unity Point Health Trinity’s Bettendorf location can thank Northwest Mechanical, a Local Union 25 contractor, for its contributions to the newly renovated, 23,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art BirthPlace.
According to Trinity’s website, just over 100 babies were delivered at the hospital when it opened in 2004. In 2016, more than 1,000 babies were delivered at the hospital, and that number is expected to continue growing — making the project an essential part of giving “the tiniest members of our community the best beginnings possible.”
“Along with our subcontractors, we adapted and expanded the existing plumbing, medical gas and HVAC systems to serve a new 4,800 sq. ft. cardiac treatment unit, a new C-section operating room, and new men’s and women’s locker rooms,” said Bryson Peters, project manager for Northwest Mechanical. “We also worked to re-purpose existing rooms into a new triage suite, and assisted with remodeling the neonatal special care unit.”
The $6 million expansion project was completed in three separate phases to eliminate downtime by allowing hospital personnel to move into their new spaces before another area was started.
